Chas Stephens

Another photo from the pile. His name was the only thing written on the back. I wonder what this photo was for. He looks a little old for this to be a yearbook photo, unless he was a teacher or something. Or it could be a work photo or something. Chas Stephens – Used Ford Salesman of the Year – 1954. Or something.

Tootsie & Peppy In Lake City

Another found photo from the pile. Guess which one is Peppy.

Berobed Gentleman.

A Man And His Robe

Although this wasn’t the first photo I pulled out of the piles shown in the post below, it’s definitely one of my favorites. (Is berobed evan a word?)Where to begin? The robe from a 1978 JC Penney’s catalog? The moustache? The suggestive laying on the couch? The dirt and scratches on the photo that make it seem so much sinister than it actually is? Who knows. It’s great. That much is true.

Finders Keepers.

March 8, 2007

I find stuff. Rather, I look for stuff. Discarded items. Lost things. Lists. Photos. Drawings. I try to get into the head of the person who created them and then lost or threw them out. I’ve been doing this most my life, but I’ve been going out on finding treks for about a year or so.

Most of the crap I find is on the walk to work. I walk along a fairly busy road so’s a bunch of things end up chucked out of someone’s window and end up near the sidewalk. Mostly garbage, receipts and the like. Sometimes I find good stuff as well. (See here to see a bunch of junk I’ve found).

About halfway to work there’s a construction site. It’s where I found this car and its contents. One Sunday I got off work early in the afternoon and I walked by the site as no one was working there.

Behind and next to the construction site was a dumping ground for this brick company. There was a warehouse back there that was torn down soon after construction began (see some pictures in the warehouse here). There were piles and piles of bagged leaves and yard clippings, debris and such. This Sunday there was more.

Some photos of the new piles (which were hauled off the very next day):

pile one

Pile 2

pile 3

As you can see there’s a couple greeting cards and a packet of photos in that last picture. Over the next couple of days I’ll be posting a few of my favorite things I fished out of the pile of crap. If I had known the pile was getting hauled away the next day I would’ve spent some more time rummaging through it. I found some good stuff. Stay tuned.

Unarmed

unarmed

I found this older picture I did back in 2000. It seems as though I like disarming folks almost as much as George Lucas. I watched the original trilogy recently and there’s bastards losing limbs all over the place.

MR WORK FLOW CHECKLIST

March 7, 2007

mr work flow

I found this weird car collage at work. No idea what it was for or why it was poorly cut-out and taped to this checklist. Strange.

I find stuff. See more here.

Spider-Man 3

A exaggerated take on my favorite super-hero. I’m psyched for the third movie and it’s been a while since I’ve drawn him (and alone). His villains, on the other hand, I’ve done plenty. I plan on slapping some color on this later in the week. Expect an update.

Map

March 3, 2007

best map ever

Two things concern me about this map that I found on the way home from work today. One: The choice of landmarks. Two: The fact that it appears to be photocopied.

One: I didn’t realize that Juicy Lucy was staying so close to Kangaroo. That’s awesome. We should introduce them. Think of all they have in common. The pouches. Um. Hmm. I think that’s about it. Oh yeah, the dumb nicknames. They have that too.

Two: I’m guessing the destination is Swift on the bottom there. Are the other names the folks who are going to Swift? What about road names and stuff? Detroit can barely make it out of bed without some sort of assistance. Bastard’ll be lost as soon as he gets out the door and Cumi Mias will have to go searchin’ for him.

I collect garbage. See some more here.
