Overnighter
So I pulled an overnight shift at work Monday/Tuesday. I got all my work done, but I had to hang around with the floor cleaning crew. I’m glad I brought my sketchbook:
And then my boss showed up to relieve me. I wouldn’t say that me being super-tired made my drawings worse per se, but they definitely got weirder. I did get to sleep about 7-ish this morning. I feel a lot better after sleeping all day.
Hellboy
I’ve been a fan of Mike Mignola for a long time now. I dig the character of Hellboy a whole lot. The movie was great. I’ve been following the making of the animated version for a while (on the Hellboy Animated blog) and enjoyed it when it was on the Cartoon Network a little while back. I’m really looking forward to the second film.
Which leads us to this crappy watercolor rendition I did this evening. This is Hellboy on the rare occasion he’s not fighting a 50 foot tall mythological beast.
Batman
I got into a discussion with my girlfriend the other day as to how sometimes I wish I could draw in her style. Any time I draw, the 20 or so years of me reading comics and whatnot heavily influences my style. This is an attempt to draw a more cartoony Batman. Just the right amount of goofy.
The Fight Of The Century
Tod Browning’s X-Men
So i drew this weird thalidomide Wolverine and I got to thinking about one of my favorite motion pictures Freaks. I thought about what if the director of that film were still around to direct an X-Men film. So I made this fake little movie poster. I may do some more of the X-Men as sideshow performers in the near future. Let me know if any of y’all would like to see that. Thanks.
There’s a larger version of this on my Flickr page.
Space Ghost
I found an old sketchbook with this picture of Space Ghost in it. Such a great show. Drawn in 2003, back when I could sit through an entire evening of Adult Swim. Damn, them new shows blow. And how many different channels need to show Family Guy eight times a day?! Dangit!
Spider-Man
I’m a long-time comic fan. They really did the Spider-Man movies right. The third one’s about to get going here and I figured I’d throw up one of my favorite renditions of him. This one I did a couple years back, I still dig it though.
